Spills happen all throughout the home, luckily, quartz is a nonporous surface excellent at handling spills. This exquisite countertop option resists mold, mildew, and bacteria. It also resists stains from many products such as wine, oil, coffee, tea, soda, fruit juice, and even makeup. All quartz needs is a quick wipe with soap and water, then you’re done! Here are some recommendations on how to care for spills on quartz countertops.

Cleaning Do's
  • Blot the spill with a clean cloth and your countertop will look as good as new.
  • Mix OxiClean into a paste then apply gently with a soft plastic pad.
  • Clean with a Magic Eraser.
  • Create a paste with baking soda and warm water then apply to the stain. Do not leave it on for more than five minutes.
  • Countertop polishers and quick cleaning polishers will bring out the beauty in your quartz without leaving a streaky residue.
Cleaning Dont's
  • Steel wool products or scourers.
  • Abrasive cleaners.
  • Lemon cleaners.

Hot Pots and Pans

Protect your countertops from hot pans, dishes, and small appliances that reach high temperatures by using a potholder or a trivet. Extreme changes in temperature can cause cracks or warping in your quartz countertop. While quartz countertops are heat-resistant to a certain degree, we recommend taking special care when handling hot pots and pans to avoid any significant damage.

Cleaning Do's
  • Allow pots and pans to cool before placing on a surface. (Cast iron may take longer to cool.)
  • Keep in mind that brief contact with hot pans and pans won’t create problems.
  • Use trivets or hot protection pads.
Cleaning Dont's
  • Avoid placing cookware taken from the oven or burner directly on the surface.
  • Avoid exposure to open flames.
  • Avoid leaving hot fat or oil spills on the surface. Clean immediately.

Helpful Tips

Clean and Maintain Your Grout

Although quartz is one of the easiest surfaces to care for, here are some additional helpful tips and general rules to keep in mind:

  1. Abrasive cleansers and scouring pads can dull quartz surfaces.
  2. Highly acidic products such as lemon cleaners or high in alkaline commonly found in oven cleaners and concentrated bleach, can disintegrate the bonds between the quartz and resin.
  3. Quartz is heat-resistant up to 300 degrees Fahrenheit, but prolonged exposure to heat can cause it to crack.
  4. Use a cutting board whenever chopping or slicing foods to avoid scratches and preserve quality.
  5. Quartz is not meant for outdoor use. Direct sunlight and weather can cause colors to fade, and the surface risks warping or splitting.
