We'd highly recommend not only decorating your kitchen open shelving with this and that, but to utilize part of the shelving space for keeping your most-used kitchen essentials, from your cutting boards and dishes. By doing so, the shelves serve a purpose to your kitchen and your pantry or lower cabinets won't be overflowing with items that could otherwise be placed in an organized manner atop the shelves.
Make sure to keep your items organized, as your shelving will be the focal point to your kitchen, which means they'll be the first thing anyone who enters sees. The last thing you need to your kitchen is a messy shelf ruining your overall kitchen aesthetic, which we know is stylish if you have open shelving!

This styling idea incorporates the above and most important styling tip, to remember to actually use your kitchen open shelves for their purpose: storing your essentials, from plates, dishes, cups, and jars. Choose items that match and coordinate in color so they don't distract from the rest of the kitchen design. We love how Tiffany styled kitchen shelving to one of our previous model homes by sticking to white kitchenware for simplicity and a fresh look to the kitchen. Also remember to place the items you use most on the lower shelves for easy access.

With height, comes dimension and visual interest is added. Can you imagine if all your decor is of similar heights? Your shelving would lack in aesthetic and would look rather bland. Add height to your open shelving through featuring family photos or artwork in picture frames. You can layer one behind the other like in this photo if you'd like as well! Pick frames of different sizes if you're looking to use more than one.
Don't just stick to adding texture through weave baskets, but showcase colors and patterns with vases, jars, and pottery for styling your shelves. If you're worried about creating your #shelfie with too much color and chaos, simply add patterns and color with vases, which won't be too bold, like a painting or other decor items might be. A pop of color or two is all you need if you're wanting to feature color on your shelves. A subtle print on jars will make your kitchen feel more homey and might even inspire you while you're cooking! As you know what they say, your environment can impact the way you feel.

You can never go wrong with featuring a plant or two on your shelves. Plants can liven up your space easily. Bringing nature into your space through plants also creates a more relaxing feel that you'll enjoy. Make sure to choose plants that thrive in your kitchen depending on lighting and such, so do your research beforehand.

If there's one styling tip you should remember most when decorating your kitchen open shelves, it would be to keep things simple. Don't overuse and overdue your shelving with a bunch of kitchen items and purchase decor that barely fits on them. Just keep your shelves simple, by adding things sparingly. It's totally chic to keep space between objects and have a 'less is more' mentality.
