When it comes to interior design trends, it can be hard to keep up and be in-the-know at all times, so we'll be covering a few of the major design trends on the blog for you to gain the design inspiration you need. First, you may want to start by taking our quick design quiz to discover the interior trend we recommend you try out.
We covered the dark tone accents trend last, and now we're onto discussing another popular current design style, blue and green paint shades – particularly to kitchen cabinets – but seen just about anywhere in the home. These popular paint colors of 2021 are currently dominating the design world and our designers are continually seeing them in varies shades picked out for kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities, and parts of the exterior. If you're on the fence about designing or even painting a room in your home with a green or blue shade, you'll definitely be more convinced once you view below.
We're sharing a few examples from homebuyer's homes to our previous model homes of how these popular paint colors of 2021 are used in and outside of the home. We've also included a couple of the design options, particularly color swatches that we offer from our design product catalog to our award-winning design studio. These may vary per community or floor plan, so please ask your designer for more info. View below for details.
Paint your coffered living room ceiling with one of the two popular colors. This muted green to our previous model home with the Summerlyn home design, leads your eyes up and throughout the space, making it feel large and accentuating the beautiful coffered ceiling. Don't have a coffered ceiling? No problem, paint one wall of your living room to create an accent wall that'll make a bold statement. What's nice about paint, is it's both an inexpensive option and easier to change up when you want to, unlike most design elements, such as flooring, which can take more time and money to change up.

Are you loving all the details to this kitchen from another one of our previous model homes? From the paint colors to the backsplash, flooring, and countertops, this kitchen looks contemporary and provides a sophisticated feel to the home. By simply adding a dark blue shade to the island cabinets, the kitchen looks more put together with the trendy color, without being distracting. This is the perfect way to integrate a more popular paint color without making your whole kitchen a bold hue, keeping it subtle and classy.
Cabinet Island Paint Color: Indigo Streamer - Valspar
This homebuyer's home with The Wellington floor plan, showcases a green shade to their kitchen island. This color looks classic paired with the neutral backsplash and white cabinets, as there aren't too many colors or designs distracting from the hue, so it's able to make an intriguing addition to the kitchen. What do you think?
Whether to your hardboard or stucco exterior, or to your front door, blue and green can make a striking appearance to your exterior that could otherwise be quite bland. Choosing a blue or green hue in place of a neutral shade, can bring the front of your home to life and create the statement you might be going for. When designing your dream home, make sure to think about the colors to your home's exterior as well, as it can make a huge impact to the overall look and feel of your home.
We photographed a homebuyer's home right before the mirror happened to be placed, but we couldn't resist capturing the bathroom vanity with a beautiful blue color, paired with black hardware. The sleek combination of silver and black hardware to the blue cabinets and white countertop look super modern for an overall stunning bathroom.
