When it comes to interior design trends, it can be hard to keep up and be in-the-know at all times, so we'll be covering a few of the major design trends on the blog for you to gain the design inspiration you need. First, you may want to start by taking our quick design quiz to discover the interior trend we recommend you try out.
Simplistic style is gaining popularity over the last couple of years from lifestyle to interior design. Simple style can encompass minimalist to Scandinavian design that you've most likely come across through your Instagram to Pinterest feed – if you follow interior designers or celebs who experiment with trends. The style has a 'less is more' approach from designing a home to decorating it. Think light to medium wood tones, clean lines, organic forms, and functionality. Most, if not every piece of decor has a purpose, serving up function to the space. The saying 'simplicity is key' also clearly defines this popular interior trend. This trend focuses on going back to basics.

Keep your living room neutral and light by incorporating furniture and decor that isn't distracting, but attracts attention from the subtlety of the textures and shades. A pop of color isn't a bad thing when it comes to this style, as long as not too many colors are put into the mix to create chaos. Pick furniture that also features sleek lines and simple shapes, from angled legs to rounded corners. If you keep in mind the 'less is more' approach, simple style will come easier to you and reduce clutter in the process.
You can still include your room necessities from blankets to toys in discreet locations for when they're needed by hiding them away in storage bins or within your TV console so they're out of sight.
Whether you're designing your dream kitchen or starting with your current one, you can easily showcase simple style. Sharp angles, round lighting, and light wood tones can complete your kitchen to create a simplistic style. Integrate organic forms, streamlined elements, and natural textures through the design of your kitchen to the decor. Plants, vases, and other decor can complement your minimalist kitchen, as long as they are spread out and sparse.
With a simple style, you'd think of straying away from wallpaper altogether, but that's not necessarily true! You're welcome to have an accent wall to any room if it's kept in a more muted or neutral design. Pick basic wood or metal furniture from your bed frame to your side table to stick to the design theme. The best part about this trend is that you can use many textures and patterns in place of using multiple colors.
For example, the top bedroom pictured above was designed with white walls and a light tan colored carpet for the perfect base to a Scandinavian-styled room. All the style elements to the room from the furniture to the potted plants and mirror showcase simplicity with organic and straight lines to the colors chosen.
We think the bathroom can be one of the easiest rooms to design simple, but it can be the hardest to keep simple. Plan out your organization routine to maintain cleanliness, whether that's paring down your bathroom essentials or placing them in cubbies under the sink and in trays inside drawers to keep them off the vanity counter. As for the design, opt for functional hardware to cabinet material so that there isn't an excess in design and lack in durability. If your bathroom doesn't have a window, choose lighter-toned colors and plenty of light fixtures to keep it bright.
