Meet our Design Team: An Introduction to Our Design Team

January 11, 2021

Meet our amazing designer team! Our design team answered a few quick questions so that you can get to know them a bit. We also just started a blog series featuring one of our designers each week and having them answer 10 get to know them questions.

Natisha L. - Design Consultant

Q: What's your favorite design style - where do you shop for this?
Natisha's Answer: Scandinavian/ Modern Style - West Elm, Article.com, Curate & Ikea (depending on budget).

Q: What's the worst design fad in the past?
A: Carpet in bathrooms.

Q: Your current obsession (song, show, etc.)?
A: Gourmet pizza places.

Hailey H. - Design Consultant

Q: What's your favorite design style - where do you shop for this?
Hailey's Answer: Scandi Boho – Target (gotta love Target), Downeast, Amazon (super affordable), Anthropology (usually smaller items because they can be expensive😉), & TJ Maxx but this can be very hit or miss.

Q: What's the worst design fad in the past?
A: Haha I hate, hate, hate when people decorate their kitchens with chickens.

Q: Your current obsession (song, show, etc.)?
A: Kitchen Aides – you never know how much you need one until you have one.

Aubrey H. - Design Consultant

Q: What's your favorite design style - where do you shop for this?
Aubrey's Answer: Modern/Traditional/Minimalist, CB2, Four Hands, West Elm.

Q: What's the worst design fad in the past?
A: Popcorn ceiling.

Q: Your current obsession (song, show, etc.)?
A: Ink Master (show).

Austrie M. - Design Manager - St. George

Q: What's your favorite design style - where do you shop for this?
Austrie's Answer: I love a classically inspired modern home with lots of texture, some eclectic décor and lots of mixing materials. My favorite brand that illustrates this perfectly is Noir (@noirfurniture on Instagram) noirfurniturela.com

Q: What's the worst design fad in the past?
A: Furry toilet seat covers- Ew!

Q: Your current obsession (song, show, etc.)?
A: I discovered @pebbyforevee side slit t-shirts a few months ago. It’s causing a hanger shortage in my closet.

Madison B. - Design Consultant

Q: What's your favorite design style - where do you shop for this?
Madison's Answer: Modern, contemporary. West Elm, Target.
Q: What's the worst design fad in the past?
A: Chevron, shag carpet, and the coral/teal color combination train!

Q: Your current obsession (song, show, etc.)?
A: The Netflix show Blacklist, I am hooked!

Kellie M. - Design Studio Assistant Manager

Q: What's your favorite design style - where do you shop for this?
Kellie's Answer: My favorite design style is Mid Century Modern – Article is a great option for this style.

Q: What's the worst design fad in the past?
A: Worst design fad EVER = Taxidermy (stuffing and mounting dead animals is never classy).

Q: Your current obsession (song, show, etc.)?
A: Ping Pong. We just got a table for Christmas and I can’t wait to become an expert table tennis player. I made a cool racket holder for my wall which I’m pretty pumped about.

Shawn L - Lead Designer

Q: What's your favorite design style - where do you shop for this?
Shawn's Answer: Eclectic. I actually prefer a combination of styles when they are tastefully put together. My favorite home decor stores are Anthropologie, West Elm and Target.

Q: What's the worst design fad in the past?
A: Rag-rolled or stenciled walls.

Q: Your current obsession (song, show, etc.)?
A: Red casual shoes like Vans or Nike.

Erica E. - Design Consultant - St. George

Q: What's your favorite design style - where do you shop for this?
Erica's Answer: I believe the best designs are intentional. When someone slows down to look at the small details that go into a space, it creates a feeling of thoughtfulness and care. I find myself drawn to clean, modern design styles, but the beauty of working with clients is it provides me with the opportunity to explore many design styles.

Q: What's the worst design fad in the past?
A: One of the unique aspects of design is the repetitive nature. Styles recirculate every 20 years which means a fad seen in the past is bound to re-circulate. Whether they are worth recirculating or not is another matter. Two fads I like to stay away from are the "Live, Laugh, Love" signs that seem to be found in every middle-aged women's kitchen and linoleum flooring. There are so many better alternatives for flooring that won't break the bank and will stand the test of time.

Q: Your current obsession (song, show, etc.)?
A: I have really been throwing myself into painting lately. It can be a challenge to get my ideas onto the canvas but I do find peace with the fact that if my execution isn't how I envisioned, I can paint right over it!
