July 20, 2021
Pioneer Day is an official holiday, settled by Mormon pioneers. The event is celebrated on the 24th of July in Utah and surrounding states. It commemorates the day of the entry of Brigham Young and the first group of Mormon pioneers into the Salt Lake Valley in 1847. But it also has strong links with the holiday in the LDS Church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints). The celebrations include reenactments of the pioneers' entry into the Salt Lake Valley, parades, concerts, festivals, rodeos, and fireworks. On this day most governmental offices and many businesses are closed. From parades to rodeos to sports competitions, this list has something for everyone to remember and celebrate Utah’s pioneer heritage.
The race is put on by Weber State Campus Recreation and includes two loops around Davis Campus. The race will take place at 8:30 a.m. and winners will receive an award.
