How to Make Every Room of Your Home Feel More Like a Spa

How to Make Every Room of Your Home Feel More Like a Spa

May 13, 2022

When designing your home, you may want to consider creating a space that will calm your senses and exude similarities to a spa. A spa brings a luxurious feel and an environment of ultimate relaxation that can be easily replicated in your home. Whether you love the calming nature of the spa or simply the soft textures, light tones, and sleek design elements, read on to see how you can transform your living space to feel more relaxing.

Starting in your living room, as you can see, there are various ways to update your living room to feel more like a spa. You can start from the floor and make your way to the walls if you're building your new home or you can switch up your decor in your current place. Opt for a lighter shade of LVP or carpet to keep the room light and bright like a spa. Layer with a large rug that's super soft and then bring in furniture that creates an extremely comfortable atmosphere for coming home to, whether that's a velvet couch or one with plenty of pillows to sink into. If you have a fireplace, choose a tile that you'd see at the spa, such as a marble design. Another way to make your main living space feel more like a spa is to bring the serenity of nature indoors with plants. Floor plants, hanging plants, and table plants can bring a sense of nature indoors and calm the senses.

If you keep your kitchen relatively simple and modern, it'll feel instantly more like a spa. Add similar elements mentioned above for the main living space, such as plants and soft textures by placing plants on shelving or on counters, cushioned barstools by the kitchen island, and pick natural wood tones for cabinets and flooring. Find a backsplash that either has a unique texture or features organic shapes for a luxurious feel that'll create a focal point in your kitchen.

There are two main rooms of the home that should definitely mimic the effects of a spa the most, the bedroom and the bathroom. These spaces of the home are meant for relaxation after a long day and to provide a safe place to unwind. Think of elements you can add in your bedroom to create just that, whether that's a weighted blanket, a reading chair in the corner of the room, a large mirror to reflect light, a theme wall in a neutral shade, or simply adding a rug to the space, find what works best for your bedroom. If you love how a spa always features plenty of lounge spots, create additional ones throughout your overall home.

The ultimate spot in your home that should feel like a spa is in your bathroom. Wish your bathroom had plenty of towels, a robe, plush rugs, eucalyptus-scented candles and lotion, and plants throughout just like a spa? You can design your bathroom to have all of those elements, either all at once or one at a time depending on your time and budget. If you're designing your new home, consider light tones and sleek tiles, but if you're thinking of simply swapping decor, choose plants and candles that'll make you feel relaxed and refreshed.

Speaking of other open spaces of your home from a nook to the entry, a loft space is a perfect space to bring in a spa-like atmosphere. Add a small couch or reading chair into your loft where you can take naps, meditate, or read and layer with pillows. Bring in other decor elements we've mentioned previously such as candles, plants, lighting, mirrors, and anything else that reminds you of a spa to the side tables in the space as well.
