What is Your Design Style?

What is Your Design Style?

November 12, 2021

Whether you're looking to update your living space or just figure out what design style you like, we have a quiz for you to help you decipher which design style you gravitate towards most. We've collected up a few of the most popular and traditional design styles to choose from, but you can mix and match a couple to create your ideal dream home. It's also important to note that you should consider your design features to your home and what would look best with those, and if you're designing your home from the start with us, ask your professional design consultant what selections will complement the design style you want to go for. Consider the design features as a foundation and base for your furniture and decor, so if you like a modern farmhouse style, make sure your kitchen includes white cabinets or rustic elements through flooring that mimics a natural wood texture. Or, if you're leaning towards a more modern look, you should opt for bold accents such as black cabinets and sleek hardware. Take the quick quiz below and discover what design style you like most.

The modern transitional style is the perfect blend of traditional with modern interior design. Think traditional wood tones and classic furniture combined with what's trending in interior design from clean lines and simple forms. Choose browns, tans, and dark tones and put them with bolder hues that are on-trend right now, such as by featuring an accent tile to your powder bath or kitchen. Gold hardware also has been taking off for the last few years and doesn't seem to be going anywhere. Add it to your kitchen hardware, bath, or in your laundry room depending on how much you prefer the metallic hue and it'll provide your home with more warmth.

Modern farmhouse style has gained popularity, particularly on Pinterest, with white and neutrals paired with rustic elements. This style looks charming and gives a country feel to your home without looking outdated. Find baskets, plants, wood-framed mirrors or pictures, wooden boards with popular phrases, and ceramic vases to add to various rooms of your home. The kitchen is a major area to the home that can showcase this design style in all its glory.

if you've got mid-century modern style, you have a bit of an old soul and enjoy vintage things. Have you ever seen the show Mad Men? The styling in that is mid-century, so this style comes close but adds a modern take to it. With low furniture, pops of color, and bold patterns and prints, this design style has a lot of personality. From furniture to paint, the colors tend to be with a 70's vibe featuring orange hues and greens, along with lots of browns. We recently wrote a blog post about Japandi style, which is trending big time right now and we adore this style. It creates a serene and relaxing interior with spa-like features and cozy elements. The Japanese minimalist style fused with Scandinavian "hygge" influence creates this popular design style. To create this style for your home, make sure to have neutral colors and design features as your base, through natural wood tones and beiges or whites, then adding soft and comfortable furniture, with the decor being functional as well.
