Who doesn't love a good design flat lay as inspiration when designing your new home or deciding on what to change up with your current? Whether you call it a flat lay, mood board, or vignette, we've got not one, but four of them! Our designers created four design flat lays of different interior styles as inspiration to share with you.
One of our incredible Design Consultants at Visionary, Maddie B., curated design selections from our design studio to create a modern farmhouse-inspired flat lay. The modern farmhouse style fuses modern, sleek styling with rustic elements found in the countryside. Creating both comfort and style with light and dark wood tones and neutral shades to everything from cabinets to furniture. This interior style integrates natural elements of plants and wood, along with showcasing organic forms in clay pottery and decor. For a fresh take to the traditional farmhouse look, modern farmhouse has gathered a huge following for a reason.

Maddie B. chose light wood tones and neutral design pieces from flooring to the countertops to exude the modern farmhouse aesthetic perfectly. The statement accent tile brings in a modern geometric element to the flat lay, perfect for creating an accent to a half bath. With the modern farmhouse style, there's no worry about the space turning out too dark and dreary, as it includes beautiful natural and bold elements.
Here are a few ways Maddie B. says you can incorporate modern farmhouse into your new or current home:
"Modern farmhouse is all about keeping it simple, but also comfortable and cozy - so don't hesitate to bring in big pieces of furniture," Maddie states.
Her biggest tip: Keeping clutter to a minimum to achieve the perfect look!
Her favorite element from this flat lay: The flooring, as the flooring brings in warmth and complements the cabinet color.

Marazzi Edgewood Stone
Montego Gossamer Veil
These two kitchens create a clean slate with white cabinets to coordinate perfectly with the more rustic farmhouse look, from the flooring, backsplash (top photo), and bar stools. Adding a farmhouse styled kitchen sink in a white finish with silver hardware elevates the look to your kitchen while bringing in the popular design style.
Instead of sticking to the red or brown shade that comes with a traditional brick fireplace, paint it white! Complement the bright look with a rustic mantel to place family photos, decor, and plants.
Painted barn doors are another modern farmhouse feature to add into your home, if you're a fan. Adding barn doors to your home can be a great choice for their ease of use, compact design, and stylish feel. They work well for closing off a laundry room, walk-in closet, or to your home office.
The combination of the statement tile against dark wood cabinets and light countertop speak modern farmhouse on so many levels, without being boring.
Another way to add this popular design style into your home is by pairing white cabinets and accent tile flooring to your laundry room. These features will keep your laundry looking bright and clean.
