We’re starting a new series we’re calling our Design Selection Series, featuring some of our design selections showcased in previous homebuyers’ homes from room to room. This series will provide you with some inspiration you may need when designing your new home with us. We want to make sure you enjoy designing every room of your home with us, including your owner's bath. When it comes to designing your bathroom, choosing flooring can be one of the most important elements in pulling the whole bathroom together. You have to consider what type of flooring you'd like and feel is most functional, whether tile, laminate, or LVP, along with the style you'd like to achieve. We've collected a few flooring ideas from previous homebuyers' homes and model homes to provide you with inspiration, whether you're contemplating designing your new home or are in the process with one of our professional design consultants.
This light shade of tile brings in brightness and works beautifully with the marble-designed bath and shower. If you decide on a few darker elements for the bathroom, make them pop by having your flooring and the other design features in a lighter shade. If you still want your flooring to make a statement, consider having it put in a herringbone design like this one to make it stand out.
If you're looking to design a more modern bathroom, hexagon-shaped tile is a perfect choice. It'll give your bathroom a modern feel while also providing a bit more interest to the space. For example, this dark hexagon tile complements the modern black hardware in the bathroom and white tile backsplash. It works well with just about any bathroom as it's simple enough to look sophisticated and interesting enough to exude a modern aesthetic.
Level up the sophistication of your bathroom by choosing a shiny tile like the one above. Sleek and modern, this bath tile creates the perfect appearance for a modern or glam bathroom. If you gravitate towards gold or black hardware and lighting fixtures, this tile may be the ideal fit for your dream bathroom. It pairs well with a trending cabinet color or any neutral design features you decide on, as it's quite versatile.
Switch up your first flooring selection for a textured and interesting one like this neutral laminate, especially if you've decided on mainly white elements for your bathroom. This flooring adds more dimension to the space that could've been otherwise looked over and looks quite stunning with fresh white design features. If you are loving the all-white trend that'll probably stay classic for a while, find neutral design features that will bring more texture and interest into the space to keep it from looking bland and instead make it look modern.
When deciding on flooring, consider all the other design selections for the bathroom space in order to design your ideal living space. Which design features do you want to be the focal point or two of the room? Once you've established that, whether it's the shower, lighting, etc., it'll be much easier to decide upon the right flooring style. This LVP flooring is more rustic and imitates the look of wood making it the perfect style of flooring for a farmhouse or modern farmhouse bathroom. We think this bathroom above is the prime example of how to create a modern farmhouse bathroom with the white cabinets and dark countertops paired with the rustic flooring design. You can't tell from these photos but this flooring has a subtle weave texture to it that brings added dimension to the bathroom. If you're sticking to classic design features, such as white quartz countertops, subway tile in the shower, and simple hardware, a flooring that adds a bit of texture or contrast will provide the space with more visual interest.
